Google Nexus 6 benchmarked blows away the competition

The Google Nexus 6 should be with us any day now, and if this alleged benchmark is anything to go by, it will be an absolute monster.

Geekbench claims to have put the handset – aka the Motorola Shamu – through its paces. The results are very impressive, especially for what should be a budget device.

In the single-core tests, the iPhone 6 and 5S outperform the Nexus 6. But when it comes to the multi-core tests, the Nexus 6 comes tops.

It seems very similar to the Galaxy Note 4s results on Geekbench.

This is all far from official. But if true, the Nexus 6 should offer plenty of bang for your buck.

The Nexus 5 launched on October 31 last year, so were expecting a Nexus 6 announcement any day now. Rumours peg a Google announcement for next week, when were also expecting to meet the Nexus 9 tablet and Android L.

So what about the specs? The Nexus 6 is rumoured to have a 5.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2,560x1,440 pixels. Thats 2K, which would put it on a par with the excellent – though slightly smaller – LG G3.

According to Geekbench, it runs Android L, and has a quad-core Qualcomm chip clocked at 2.65GHz.

We could also see a smaller, 5.2-inch model launch, mimicking the dual-pronged approach Apple took with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. 5.9 inches is mighty large for a phone, so we would welcome a more manageable model.

It shouldnt be long until we know for sure. Let us know what youd like to see in the comments.
